Rebuilding a home for a Christian family

Hello my name is James Colwell. I am a full time missionary and I am raising money to help a wonderful couple and their family rebuild their home that was destroyed by fire on March 21st. I met Cristofer & Veronica Hidalgo almost 5 years ago. They were students in my school, Escuela Bíblica Móvil de Costa Rica in Cariari, Costa Rica. They are a wonderful couple who are concerned about doing the Lord’s work and serving Him. I consider them to be friends and servants of Christ. On March 21st, 2023 tragedy struck when their home was destroyed by fire. No, they didn’t have insurance. In Costa Rica, many do not. All of their belongings and their car was destroyed. Cristofer is a painter and mechanic and someone’s car that he was working on was destroyed as well. If you have ever experienced a loss due to fire, you know it is devastating . They have 3 children Dylan 11, Yasmin 14, Shirley 16 and a niece Noelia who lost all of their possessions too. Thankfully, the Community of Cartagena, Costa Rica, brethren from the Church of Christ and their family have been very kind and generous. As a result the have been able to acquire another piece of property and have the materials to build the walls and roof for a new home. However, they need about $3, 500 more to complete the floor and add windows. Yes, they put the walls up Ist on these type of homes in Costa Rica. A group from the Upala church of Christ will be helping them put up the walls starting Monday. They plan to have them raised by Thursday 4-27. Afterwards, they will continue the building. The tentative plan is to lay the concrete the 4th of May or after. More brethren will be donating their time to help with the concrete. It’s funny, I just did some volunteering in another location with concrete work a month ago, so now I am trained to help with this! LOL! Thankfully, we have brethren who are professionals who can guide us grunts who aren’t . Incidentally, Cristofer helped unload the materials you see and he will be helping in the building of his home. He is a hard worker , who is not afraid to get his hands dirty whether he is working on cars , assisting others or even evangelizing. The church in Cartagena was meeting in his home before the fire, and they are meeting in the home he is currently renting. There is not another church in his area, so it is a tremendous opportunity for growth and to aid the Lord’d work! If you know Cristofer and Veronica you know they are good people who are concerned about others and serving the Lord!
