Mi nombre es Antonio García, soy un autónomo de Valencia de 60 años que el 29 de Octubre de 2024 ha visto truncada su vida laboral por las inundaciones provocadas por la DANA. El esfuerzo y sacrificio de toda una vida arrasado por el agua, ya que llevo trabajando en este oficio durante mas de 44 años, desde los 16 años.

La actividad de mi negocio es el corte a medida de tableros para la fabricación posterior de todo tipo de muebles. La nave está muy cerca del Centro Comercial Bonaire y junto al barranco de Aldaia.

En tan solo una hora mi negocio fue completamente devastado por el agua, llegando a una altura de aproximadamente 1’80 metros, la entrada de agua arrastro totalmente todo el material, en este caso tableros, además de todo lo que entro por la puerta, ramas, cañas, pallets, ruedas de camión, barro… en fin, todo lo que se puedan imaginar arrastrado hacia el final de la nave con tal presión y fuerza que derrumbo la pared quedando la estructura muy dañada (una pared de 20x7 metros y parte del techo de la misma nave).

A día de hoy y pese a la ayuda de los voluntarios a los que estaremos siempre, eternamente agradecidos, aun queda mucho por limpiar.

El barro aún está por la mayoría de la nave y no tenemos maquinaria para retirar los escombros y el material acumulado por su elevado peso.

Fue de tal magnitud que tanto las carretillas elevadoras como toda la maquinaria se cubrieron de agua y lodo, quedando totalmente inservibles, así como parte de la instalación eléctrica y neumática (compresores), todo lo necesario para poder realizar el trabajo al que me dedico.

Aun no tenemos luz ni agua, no podemos más que sacar lodo con palas ahora mismo.

Por motivos personales, no disponía de seguro, por lo que no tengo derecho a ningún tipo de indemnización.

Mi intención es poder seguir trabajando como toda mi vida para seguir manteniendo a mi familia.

My name is Antonio García. I am a 60-year-old self-employed worker from Valencia, and on October 29, 2024, my livelihood was destroyed by the floods caused by the DANA (heavy rainfall). The effort and sacrifice of a lifetime were washed away by the water, as I have been working in this trade for more than 44 years, since I was 16.

My business involves cutting boards to size for the subsequent manufacture of all types of furniture. The workshop is very close to the Bonaire Shopping Center and next to the Aldaia ravine.

In just one hour, my business was completely devastated by the water, which reached a height of approximately 1.8 meters. The influx of water dragged away all the material, in this case, boards, in addition to everything that entered through the door: branches, reeds, pallets, truck tires, mud... in short, everything you can imagine was dragged to the back of the workshop with such a pressure and force that it knocked down the wall, leaving the structure severely damaged (a 20x7 meter wall and part of the roof of the same workshop).

To this day, and despite the help of volunteers, to whom we will be eternally grateful, there is still much to clean.

The mud is still present throughout most of the workshop, and we don't have the machinery to remove the debris and accumulated material due to its heavy weight.

The flood was of such magnitude that both the forklifts and all the machinery were covered in water and mud, rendering them completely unusable, as well as part of the electrical and pneumatic (compressor) systems – everything necessary to carry out the work I do.

We still don't have electricity or water; we can only shovel mud right now.

For personal reasons, I didn't have insurance, so I'm not entitled to any compensation.

My intention is to be able to continue working, as I have done all my life, to continue supporting my family.
