Roots of Resilience: Rebuilding Jamaican Lives
Hope After Hurricane Melissa
Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,
We are Sarah, Nikki, and Nelly — three cousins united to raise funds for our family devastated by Hurricane Melissa in our beloved homeland of Jamaica.
This storm brings unimaginable destruction: Roofs torn off. Walls collapsed. Homes flooded.
Our loved ones — including our dads, aunts, uncles, and extended family — are now without shelter, without work, and without access to essentials like food, medical supplies, clean water, and clothing.
Beyond the physical damage, the situation worsens with loss of communication and limited access to banks and stores. Families cannot reach loved ones, withdraw funds, or purchase necessities.
Who Your Support Helps:
Your donation directly impacts real people with real needs:
- Claude & Del Chin — an elderly couple; Del manages diabetes and mobility challenges. Their homes are now severely damaged by the storm.
- Oscar Chin — a senior devoted to caring for his spouse and young child while navigating this devastation. Their homes are now severely damaged by the storm.
- Our Generational Home — built by George & Clarabelle Chin, respected farmers and community leaders; a place that holds decades of family history and memories, now severely damaged by the storm.
How Your Donation Helps:
Every dollar you give goes directly toward:
- Home Repairs & Household Items: Rebuilding roofs, repairing hurricane-related damage, and replacing essentials like furniture.
- Essential Supplies: Food, clean water, medications, and clothing.
- Safety & Personal Essentials: Hygiene items and everyday necessities for comfort, safety, and health.
- Community Support: Assisting with local recovery efforts where possible — restoring access to critical services and helping neighboyrs rebuild. Our family has strong ties to the Maroons.
Why Your Help Matters:
Your generosity writes the next chapter in our family’s story — one of courage, community, and love. #WeLikkleButWiTallawah
Your donation matters because it shows that we are all connected. Together, we turn heartbreak into healing and devastation into resilience.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us.
