Hi everyone,

We are Delando and Jakia Kelly, raising funds for our loved ones, friends, and community members living in Dias and Kingsvale, Hanover, Jamaica, who have been deeply affected by Hurricane Melissa.

Delando was born and raised in Dias, Hanover. His mother has since moved to Kingsvale, but his father, brothers, sister, aunt, and cousins still live in Dias. The storm’s impact on both areas has been devastating. Many of the homes in Dias and Kingsvale were built with board and could not withstand the force of the hurricane. Trees are down, roofs are gone, roads are blocked, and entire communities are cut off. Power and communication lines have been destroyed, leaving families without phone service, internet, or electricity.

It has been days since we last spoke with our family, but we’ve been holding on to hope by watching TikToks and posts from nearby community members showing the damage and heartbreak that Hurricane Melissa left behind. We know recovery will take time, especially in these rural areas where help often arrives last.

For anyone unable to contribute financially, we are also collecting physical materials and supplies to ship directly to the families affected.
