Rebuild Wattle Tree Place

Story

THE IDEAWattle Tree Place was created to be a space for people of all ages.  A place to spend the day together, eating, exploring, learning, practicing self care and mindfulness. Growing as a family, growing as friends and as a community. WHAT WE CREATEDWattle Tree Place does not fit into a box. It could transform from being a place to bring your kids for morning activities, to a live music venue in the evening. We put on creative and mindful workshops and activities for both adults and children. We hosted many amazing community events featuring live artists and truly became a place of healing and connection for so many people. Wattle Tree Place could be a house for a nursing mothers group to meet each week and a place parents could come do a yoga class while their children played in a garden. It was a home where you didn't have to do the dishes! It became a place of learning and growing, of meditation and contemplation. A place where people came to gather the strength and tools to heal themselves. To awaken on a spiritual journey. To connect with themselves, their guides and angels, their ancestors, the elements, the earth, the moon and the sun. It was a place to be able to ask questions with no judgement and seek answers through meditation and connection and power through listening and manifestation. Our aim was for everyone that walked through the door to receive exactly what they needed and leave in a better place than when they walked in.  THE LOSSWe started with a blank slate And created a thriving community business. Wattle Tree Place was a place people came to make their day a little brighter. Kids would ask their parents to take them to WattleTree Place and parents would be happy to do so. Who knows who you would meet in the backyard! Then a developer bought the block and after initial assurances that we would have 2 years or so to be able to continue building our business and find another place, on August 8 2018 they served us an eviction notice.  We had 12 weeks to find a new location and move a thriving community business, a safe container that the community depended on. We had to be out on October 31, 2 years to the day we moved in.THE COMMUNITY ACTIONWith the devastating news that Wattle Tree Place would be demolished before the end of the year, the community rallied. Action groups were formed, petitions were organized, packing and moving groups were scheduled. Help came from all directions which allowed us to continue hosting events right up until October 27 2018. This gave the community demolition team 4 days to tear down our container and help move us to our new location. THE FUTURE VISION - Our new home is only 3 blocks from the original location and has the potential to be an EVEN BETTER version of Wattle Tree Place but WE NEED YOUR HELP! We put everything we had into creating the first space for the community and don't have the start up capital for a second major renovation. We need community help to fund the next amazing space. We are excited to create a new unique space for the community. We will fence and landscape the front yard into a performing arts and community gathering space. The upstairs will be a tranquil healing space for our holistic healing practitioners and we will transform the lower level of the house into a commissary kitchen. Wattle Tree Place would be a cafe again and other small food businesses and start ups would have commercial kitchen space to rent to prep and cook without the huge overhead cost of a permanent location. This would also provide a kitchen to process food grown at our community fruit and vegetable garden and a space for our nonprofit community cooking classes. THE IDEA

Wattle Tree Place was created to be a space for people of all ages.  A place to spend the day together, eating, exploring, learning, practicing self care and mindfulness. Growing as a family, growing as friends and as a community.

WHAT WE CREATED

Wattle Tree Place does not fit into a box.

THE LOSS

We started with a blank slate

And created a thriving community business.

We had to be out on October 31, 2 years to the day we moved in.

THE COMMUNITY ACTION

With the devastating news that Wattle Tree Place would be demolished before the end of the year, the community rallied. Action groups were formed, petitions were organized, packing and moving groups were scheduled. Help came from all directions which allowed us to continue hosting events right up until October 27 2018. This gave the community demolition team 4 days to tear down our container and help move us to our new location.

THE FUTURE VISION -

Our new home is only 3 blocks from the original location and has the potential to be an EVEN BETTER version of Wattle Tree Place but WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Stay tuned for more information on the Wattle Tree Place Non Profit!

Funds donated will go towards

*Labor costs
*Commitioning local artists to create unique items for our interactive garden
*Creating a wheelchair accessible entry

Then funds will be accessed by Anna Phillips and Sophie Wegecsanyi and will go directly to the running and recreation of WTP.

By investing in us, you will be investing in a mindful community, one that cares about the earth and each other.

We look forward to posting updates as we start this process and together we can watch the growth and feel the magic and excitement of creating another unique and wondrous space. This time built by the community for the community.
