Last night the building in which the kids and staff from the Leaders of Tomorrow Childrens home founded by Pete O'Neal at the United African Alliance Community Center UAACC co Founded by Pete and Charlotte O'Neal in Tanzania, burned down and the kids and staff lost all their belongings as well as where they live. We are asking for donations to help rebuild their home and get school supplies and even replace their tablets as they will need all new clothes!
Here is a recount of the events from Charlotte Oneal (Mama C)
What a blessed day we had yesterday with many guests and loud laughter and joy and shared blessings! Who would have thought that at 2o’clock in the morning that Sister Glory would come to Mzee Pete’s room shouting that the children’s house was on fire!! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the fire and the astonishing speed that it spread. Sister Mwajabu had already made sure every child was out and safe. The fight with the flames had begun. Mzee Bakari, our Tenth Cell Leader had the women sound the alarm and nearly 90 people came to help with buckets and hoses! Eventually the fire department came but they had to come from town and got lost but finally made it to UAACC. The house was consumed and all was lost…clothes and shoes and furniture and all that was in that inferno! The blessing is that nobody was hurt! My dad, who was a fire fighter for 25 years always told us how fast an electrical fire could spread! We have witnessed the truth of his recollections! All has been lost in that Leaders of Tomorrow home but the walls are still standing! we are determined to rebuild and like that mythical Phoenix bird we will rise again but we need the help of our Global Community who have always respected our work and example for decades. We are putting out The CALL and ask for your help to quickly rebuild this legacy! Stay tuned for updates and more information on how you can help with this restoration!! Blessings still flow…
