Hello everyone,
My name is Lorraine Chang-Edwards and I’m writing this with a very heavy heart from London,UK.
My family, my 83year old grandmother and several of our neighbours have been left homeless and without food or basic necessities after the devastating Storm Melissa tore through our community. In just a few hours, everything we had built and cared for was destroyed. Roofs were ripped off, homes flooded, and power lines went down.
My grandmother’s home where I visit and help to care for her, was severely damaged. Most of our belongings have been ruined and she is now staying wherever she can find temporary shelter. My grandmother’s home was left severely damaged, with no roof, windows, or doors. She not only cares for her elderly brother but also for two amazing young men she adopted when they were children, who are now 18 and 21. This fundraiser will help rebuild their home, provide basic necessities and support nearby neighbours who were also affected by the storm. Every donation will go directly toward restoring safety, shelter, and stability for this loving family and their community.
We are doing our best to stay positive, but it’s incredibly hard seeing my grandmother and our neighbours, many of them elderly or families with young children, struggling to find food and shelter.
Local services are stretched thin, and emergency aid is slow to reach everyone affected.
I’ve started this GoFundMe to help us and our neighbours.
Thank you sincerely for your generosity and compassion. It is easy for me to think first of my immediate family—my grandmother, her elderly brother who is living with diabetes, and the two young boys. However, it has become clear that our entire town is facing hardship. Many families are struggling to meet their basic needs, lacking food, shelter, and essential household items.
This fundraiser aims to bring our community together to provide urgent support. The funds raised will be used to help families purchase food, rebuild their homes, and access the necessary items required to live with dignity. Your contribution will directly improve lives and help restore hope to those most in need.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help us rebuild our lives and support others in our community who are also suffering.
If you can’t donate, please share this campaign with friends and family, it truly makes a difference.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, for your kindness, and for helping us find hope again after this terrible storm.
With gratitude,
Lorraine Chang-Edwards & Family
