Rebuild Treasure Island: Help the Hurd Family
Donation protected
This past winter, the cabin on our family’s beloved Treasure Island (also known as The Hurd Island) was swept away during a fierce coastal storm. Like a scene from a movie, the cabin was lifted off its foundation and carried by the waves, eventually being deposited onto the rocky shoreline. Although it survived this remarkable journey, the cabin was severely damaged and now requires dismantling and rebuilding. Our island, which has been in the Hurd family for nearly a century, also suffered extensive erosion and damage, leaving behind uprooted trees, scattered rocks, and a landscape that desperately needs restoration.
Treasure Island has always been a cherished working island for the Hurd family, where generations built traps, coiled ropes, and weaved bait bags. My father, Karl Hurd, took great pride in maintaining its simple beauty, sharing it with family, locals, and visitors alike. Since his passing in 2021, we have strived to honor his legacy, but the recent storm has presented challenges unlike any we have faced before. We are now seeking help to rebuild the cabin, clear the debris, and restore the island’s natural beauty. Your support will help us revive this treasured family haven for future generations, allowing us to continue the tradition of working, enjoying, and loving this special place. Any assistance would mean the world to us. Thank you for your generosity.
