Rebuild Their Lives After House Fire
Donation protected
The house in these pictures are what's left of my son and his father's home. They were on vacation when their home caught fire. Thankfully, the person house-sitting was able to get out to safety as well as her daughter.
They were able to save my son's dog as well as theirs. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find my son's cat. They are coming back to not having a home. I am hoping to raise funds to help them get back on their feet. His dad is a hard-working person, a great father, and a great person. He is not the type to ask for help. I am hoping the community will rally around them and show some support. Any amount to help them is beyond appreciated.
Thank you for your donations and taking time to read this.
*UPDATE* we do have an Amazon wishlist set up and it will be updated as we're able to go thru the home. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/19AHMIHHXMSIQ?ref_=wl_shareWish list
** UPDATE FROM MATT HIMSELF**
Thank You All
Just a few days ago, my son and I were on vacation—laughing, swinging, riding through the woods, and getting ready to head to the beach the next day. We had no idea how much life was about to change.
Around 5:00 in the afternoon, I got the call: our home was on fire.
I broke the news to my son as I was packing the car to drive home. His first words were,
“Is Maya okay? What about Sally?”
Not a single question about what we lost—just pure love and concern for our animals.
Maya and Sally aren’t just pets—they’re family.
My son went on to the beach with my mom and dad, and I drove home alone to face what was waiting.
Maya, our dog, is doing great—fat, happy, and completely unfazed. The very next day, I ordered Giuseppe’s for dinner, and she helped herself to every last pizza crust, like nothing had ever happened.
Sally, our cat, we know made it out, but she’s still missing. We haven’t given up hope that she’ll find her way back home.
Coming back to the damage was heartbreaking—but what came after was something I’ll never forget. The outpouring of love, support, donations, and kindness—from friends, family, and even complete strangers—has carried us through some of the hardest days of our lives.
I don’t post much, and I don’t always know how to say things the right way, but I need everyone to know this:
Thank you.
Truly. For everything.
If you ever need anything, I’ll be there—just like you were for us.
