Rebuild the Sweeting Home

Hurricane Dorian ravaged its way through the Northern Bahamas in September 2019. For residents of Abaco and Grand Bahama in particular, it was a frightening and deadly ordeal. Like many Bahamians, Michael and Toni Sweeting, along with their 3 kids Sierra, MJ and Miguel, as well as Michael’s parents, found themselves trapped in the upper part of their house, battling rising floodwaters and Category 5 hurricane winds. At one point they were forced into the roof, as incessant floodwaters began filling the second story of their two-story house. Without any means of communication, they remained hopeful, amid despair, that help would find them. After some 36+ hours of being trapped, help came in the form of two Good Samaritans on Jet skis and all seven individuals were returned to safety.

My cousin Toni and her family lost all their earthly possessions in the hurricane. And while we are overjoyed that they escaped with their lives, they are in need of financial support to get their lives back on track. Their newly built house was destroyed and unfortunately not covered under insurance. Their cars were also destroyed, but the car insurance does not cover flood damage. They will be starting from scratch. It is our hope and prayer that with the generosity of the public, we can raise enough money to give them a healthy head start in rebuilding their lives. The funds raised here will go toward rebuilding Toni & Michael Sweeting's home and purchasing furniture, household appliances and a vehicle.

All funds raised will be received by me and transferred directly to Toni Sweeting via wire transfer. To save on wire fees, I plan on doing one withdrawal in one month and another withdrawal in November.
