May 10th, 2025, will never be a day forgotten on this small family farm!
An EF2 at 115 mph came beside the house and went straight for the hay barn. The hay barn was built in 1992 by Bonnie’s husband and Jennifer’s dad. That barn represented prosperity from the dairy, a legacy to be passed down, and a sense of pride in the care taken of the cattle to provide hay that had been protected from the elements. Bonnie’s husband, Jim, only wanted the best for his cattle. So he built a barn that could hold up to 500 bales of hay, allowing for quality hay to be gathered throughout the summer and fall seasons.
Joel and Jennifer and their girls moved back to the farm to help carry on Jim’s legacy of quality cattle. The cattle (Angus/Hereford cross) are raised on rotational grazing. However, the cattle were supplemented with grass, oats, and peanut hay throughout the winter months.
We had a quote of raising the hay barn back to its wonder and glory for $35,000 plus materials. However, the tin on one side has been compromised and will not be the same in regards to stability and waterproofing. We are asking our friends, family, and anyone who loves our videos and back-to-nature way of raising beef to help us buy another pole barn to cover our hay.
