Rebuild the Farms Behind the Coffee

On August 10, an earthquake struck our coffee-growing region in Colombia.

For us at Col-Spirit, this wasn't something that happened far away. It happened to our friends, our partners and our family.

Three coffee farms that are part of our story were badly affected: La Coqueta, Belén and La Sirena.

La Coqueta — Juan Bustos

Located in Filandia, Quindío, La Coqueta suffered the most severe damage. The structure of Juan's home has been seriously compromised and it is no longer safe for his family to live there.

Our most urgent goal is to help them rebuild a safe home.

Belén — Germán & Belén

This one is especially personal to us.

Belén is our family farm and the place where we welcome roasters from around the world when they visit us in Colombia. It is where many of our relationships in coffee have turned into friendships, and it is also home to our Natural Pink Bourbon.

The earthquake caused significant damage to the roof and ceilings, with parts collapsing into the house.

For everyone who has shared a coffee with us at Belén: this is our home at origin, and now it needs our help.

La Sirena — Juan David & Geraldine

La Sirena is home to our friends and partners Juan David Puerta and Geraldine, the people behind Sens Coffees and their well-known co-fermented coffees.

Thankfully, their damage is less severe, but the farm still requires repairs to keep the property safe and prevent further deterioration.

Why are we doing this?

Our own story started with a coffee farm.

In 2019, after learning firsthand how difficult it was for small Colombian producers to access international markets, we decided to open our container and help other producers export their own coffees.

Since then, coffee has allowed us to connect Colombian farms with people all over the world.

Today, we want to use those connections in the opposite direction:

from the world, back to the farms.

The funds raised will be used for the repair and reconstruction of these three properties, prioritizing the most urgent structural needs. Professional assessments and budgets are currently being completed, and we will publish them as soon as they are available.

We will also share updates throughout the process so you can see where the funds go and what your support is helping rebuild.

Coffee is about relationships, transparency and knowing where your coffee comes from.

Today, those relationships matter more than ever.

Behind every coffee is a farm. Behind every farm is a family. And very often, that farm is also their home.

If Colombian coffee has ever been part of your story, please consider becoming part of theirs.

Every contribution helps. And if you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with your coffee community can make an enormous difference.

Colombia has shared its coffee with the world for generations.
Today, we're asking the world to help three Colombian coffee families rebuild.

Help us rebuild the farms behind the coffee.
