Rebuild The Big Red Barn

Donation protected
On Monday April 20th, 2020, The Big Red Barn Burned Down. AKA "The Lazy Deinhard Ranch Barn". Thank God no one was injured physically! Out in the county farmland, the firefighters worked valiantly to save the 68 year old barn but to no avail. All of it went up in smoke caused by a random undetermined electrical problem (perhaps mice). The destruction of a fire is unforgettable and has changed our lives forever. Built in 1952 by Bill Deinhard, in McCall Idaho, the Big Red Barn was a local landmark on scenic Highway 55 just as you left McCall.  It was on the local tourist map of town in the scenic mountains, a mile high in beautiful Idaho.  The barn has hosted countless joyful activities over many years and had most recently become the day to day Hobby Shop Central location for Tim Deinhard, loving friend and husband and an awesome father to three proud young men! This terrible loss has affected our entire family deeply and the view into McCall will never be the same. The barn was large enough to store many of the cherished items our family and my father personally collected over the years. Some custom-built motorcycles, motorcycle parts, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, lawnmowers, a Fifth wheel, as well as grandpa’s old wooden buggy all burned down.

The barn held many memories as a workshop, and became storage for antique tools, regular tools, equipment and great grandpa Bills old Fedora and fancy boots. It was an honest barn built for honest hard work, every day that barn was used for something necessary. It also held a special room for music equipment: guitars, amps, keyboards were stored and played inside that room. All of it went up in smoke caused by a random undetermined electrical problem (perhaps mice). The destruction of a fire is endless and this fire has changed our lives forever.

The Deinhard family would love to rebuild the Big Red Barn and restore the scenic landmark to the ranch.  This won’t be the first time the Deinhard family has rebuilt due to fire in McCall.  In the late 1940’s, Grandpa Bill’s Victorian Hotel McCall burned to the ground.  One year later Bill had it rebuilt and it stands today as historic Hotel McCall in the center of McCall, Idaho. We will one day too have the Big Red Barn rebuilt!

No amount of money can ever bring back the historical and family value from the barn itself to all the items inside which created amazing memories for so many. We hope the estimated amount of $40,000 can be used to fully reconstruct the Big Red Barn! 75% of that cost is needed for locally sourced materials such as roofing, trusses, support beams, siding and foundation. The remaining 25% is needed for locally acquired construction assistance. The project will be headed by Tim Deinhard. Our family is hoping and praying that together with your support we can rebuild the Big Red Barn by Summer of 2021 or possibly sooner!

Thank you so much for taking your time and consideration to read about our family barn and local landmark. We, with all of our hearts, deeply appreciate any contribution to help rebuild!

From,

The Deinhard Family
