Rebuild Sled Farm 2
Donation protected
For 20 years, Heather and Eric Higgins have been helping people enjoy the North East Kingdom of Vermont, creating lasting memories with family and friends. Called "Sled Farm 2, the Higgins and friends have graciously given back to the community, whether helping the fundraising of Brighton or Northeast Kingdom Snowblasters snowmobile clubs, or participating in many community events. On the morning of February 2nd, that all changed. A chimney fire sparked a small fire in the addition of the house. By the time the fire department showed up and started their fight, the fire had spread. Brighton, Charleston, Derby Line, and Newport City all helped to contain the fire. That fight lasted 7 hours. While the main house still stands, the back half of it is severely fire damaged and the addition is a total loss. The rest of the interior has the ceilings pulled down and walls loaded with soot and furnishings destroyed by smoke and water. What's left is the charred remains of the house, belongings, and memories. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, insurance is shirking their responsibility, leaving Eric and Heather to pick up the pieces and start again on their own. They have vowed to stay put in the town and once again hang the "Sled Farm 2" sign out front to greet all those traveling into town. Anything helps, please donate if you can.
