Help Rebuild Shaye & Tyler’s Home After Basement Collapse

On Wednesday July 9th, Shaye & Tyler’s basement wall caved in and two of the other foundation walls cracked at their home. The house was immediately condemned. Shaye, Tyler and Landon were left with the clothes on their backs.

They were able to get the house stabilized but it is still deemed unoccupiable. Storms continue to pummel our area, creating more damage to their already fragile home, including 6-8 inches of mud that is now in the basement. Because the collapsed wall was caused by groundwater, the insurance company will not cover the damage. The estimated repair costs are over $86,000. They have reached out to several organizations for support. One organization looks hopeful, but they need to raise the costs of the material for the repair.

Shaye and her family have a safe place to sleep while they figure out what comes next. They received an abundance of clothes and some toys for Landon. Shaye and Tyler have also received some donations for clothes. Now they need a path toward rebuilding the life these storms tried to wash away.

How Funds Will Be Used

Every dollar raised will be used directly to rebuild Shaye and Tyler’s home and replace what was lost. Funds will be used to:

 Rebuild the foundation, interior, and exterior of their home (walls, insulation, paint, floors, electrical, plumbing etc.)

 Replace any destroyed basic furnishings

 Replace critical medical and food supplies for Landon

 Rebuild their HVAC system

 Cover labor and contractor costs for licensed rebuild and accessibility improvements

 Handle any unexpected repairs or recovery costs related to the flood

If we are fortunate enough to exceed our goal, any remaining funds will be used to assist other families in the area who are recovering from the same devastation but may not have the same access to resources or reach to ask for help themselves.

We will be fully transparent and accountable for the distribution of funds, and we will provide updates along the way as the rebuilding progresses.
