Hurricane Dorian devastated Hope Town, Elbow Cay (Abaco, Bahamas) and all the residents need your help. They all
lost everything and now is the time to send prayers, support and supplies, etc. Additionally, we need to help Captain Robert Lowe, and his wife, Karen Huff-Lowe, rebuild and we need to give back for the many years of them entertaining all of us in the Abacos! Their hospitality is legendary and this hurricane created an entire loss for the family. Robert's livelihood is commercial fishing and all of his boats are gone! Their two rental cottages and their personal home, lost the roofs and are all uninhabitable. They also lost their generator and commercial freezer, which stored all of their fish/crawfish (lobster) that they sell to the local restaurants. It is a complete loss, and they do not have any insurance because they could not afford it. My son, John (17), spent several weeks living with the Lowes this past summer and helping Robert on the boat. This fundraiser was his idea because he felt committed to helping his fishing mentor. He and Robert really bonded!
Please consider helping them get back on their feet and all of the money will go towards this effort. Any funds received above their needs will be sent to the Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department to help with the community restoration. Elaine Huff-Lowe is handling all distributions
from this fund on behalf of the Lowe Family. Elaine is Karen's sister, and Karen asked me to allow her to make withdrawals as needed to support the needs of the family and the business. Karen and Stony are focused entirely on getting Robert out of Elbow Cay and back to the US. He is alive, but they need to secure all remaining belongings and create a plan on rebuilding.
The US (especially SC) has a strong connection to this place. The Lowes are from the Abacos and they desperately need our contributions now....thank you!
