Hi, my name is Clara Blair, and my main goal is to raise money for Sanibel Island after the damage that Hurricane Ian caused to it. I am currently a freshman in high school, and my family has been going to Sanibel island for vacations each summer for as long as I can remember, and way before that. My mother started going with my grandma when she was a child, and even my grandpa and my great-great-grandmother began going by taking the ferry before there was a causeway. Sanibel Island is my family's biggest tradition, and I know it is many others too. This storm has destroyed Sanibel Island, and I cannot bear thinking that this fantastic place is practically ruined. This island is important to many people, especially the 6,400 residents and 300 locally owned businesses. In addition to this, almost 6,500 acres is a National Wildlife Refuge. The J.N. "Ding" Darling is home to over 270 types of birds, 35 species of mammals, and 60 species of reptiles and amphibians. This is why I want to raise as much money as possible to get Sanibel back to the way we all remember it.
