Hello everyone,
My name is Derrecia Graham, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart that's also filled with hope on behalf of my 68-year-old mother, Sadie Cameron, who lives in the farming community of Springfield, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.
Hurricane Melissa swept through our community and completely destroyed my mother’s home. The roof was torn away, the walls collapsed, and everything she owned, her furniture, clothes, and cherished family keepsakes were gone with the wind, or buried in the rubble.
My mother isn’t just trying to rebuild for herself, she is helping to raise her grandchildren who depend on her for love, guidance, and daily care. Her small "board temple" as she'd affectionately call it, was everyone's safe place and the heart of our family, and now it’s gone.
To make things even harder, the hurricane also wiped out her small farm and livestock, which were her main source of income and food. The few goats, chickens, and crops she tended were how she survived and supported her family. Now, there's desolation as far as the eyes can see.
Rebuilding her home and restarting her small farm is critical for recovery and being self-sufficient.
Your contributions, no matter how small, will bring my mother and her family one step closer to having a safe and stable life again. If you’re unable to give financially, please consider sharing this campaign with others. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
Thank you for helping her rebuild her home, showing her kindness and giving her hope after this devastatingly unimaginable disaster.
Sincerely,
Derrecia Graham
