School Recovery Relief after Hurricane Melissa
0% complete
£7,794 raised of £10K
63 donations
On 28 October 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a catastrophic Category 5 storm, bringing winds of up to 185 miles per hour. The hurricane left the island in ruins — homes destroyed, roads washed away, and schools reduced to rubble. Entire communities were flooded, and thousands of children are now left without classrooms, books, uniforms, or even a safe space to learn.
For many families, education is more than just schooling - it is a lifeline. Education, being the conduit that it is for the foundation of opportunity, must not be interrupted. Every child deserves the chance to learn, to dream, and to rebuild their future, even in the shadow of disaster.
While rebuilding schools will take time, what our children need now is immediate support - the essentials that allow them to return to some sense of normality and continue their education.
Your Donations Will Go Towards
Back-to-school essentials – school bags, books, stationery, and uniforms for children who lost everything.
Emergency relief supplies – food, clean water, and hygiene kits for affected families.
Meal support – daily meals to ensure no child goes hungry while schools reopen.
Teacher and volunteer support – helping educators and community groups run temporary classrooms, provide emotional care, and ensure continuity of learning.
Every pound makes a difference. A single contribution can mean a child receives a new school bag, a family gets food for the week, or a teacher can reopen a small classroom.
Our Mission and Local Partnerships
As someone born, raised, and educated in Jamaica, I feel deeply called to assist those affected and to help families and children return to school. Friends, relatives, and community representatives I know personally have been directly impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
By acting now, we can ensure that children do not lose months of learning and have the supplies they need to return safely once roads and pathways are cleared. We are working closely with local community representatives who are assessing damage and coordinating with families and schools most in need, ensuring that every pound raised is directed where it will have the greatest impact.
This campaign is about rebuilding hope, restoring dignity, and helping families find their footing again after unimaginable loss.
