Hello Everyone!

My name is Romaine Nesbeth! I am a Jamaican, born and raised in the hills of Manchester. On October 29th, 2025, I was met face to face with the most terrifying event of my life: Hurricane Melissa. A historic category 5 hurricane that blew through my beloved island, destroying everything in her path.

Just a few weeks before Melissa’s arrival, my wife and I were planning to extend my family home in an effort to have her migrate from the United States to Jamaica. She is a first-generation American by way of Jamaica. Her parents were born and raised in the same community I am from. We have a beautiful one-year-old daughter and I have a wonderful 12-year-old stepson. I was working tirelessly to have them all come home to Jamaica to me. I even received approval from my father to build on our family home just for them. Together, she and I were able to start to acquire the materials we needed for the foundation. Everything was going according to plan. Next was the steel, then the cement, and then the blocks. We had a solid plan. I worked in Jamaica as a farmer by day and an MC by night, and she worked in NYC as a supervisor. It was and still is my mission to have my family with me by the middle of next year.

Then Melissa made her unfortunate appearance and ripped my family home to shreds. Everything, gone. In the blink of an eye. Melissa slowly made her entrance and exited in a fury, leaving nothing unscathed. The trees my father planted during my childhood were cut down to their very roots. The home my parents worked their entire lives to provide for us, gone in the twinkling of an eye.

So have the dreams of bringing my family home disappeared. So today, in all my humility, I am asking folks across the world to help me get back on my feet. $6,000 is roughly 1 million Jamaican dollars. Just enough to build a two-bedroom house up from the ground from scratch. Everything else can come in time and with hard work. Right now, I am homeless and my family has nowhere to come visit me. With my crops gone and everything else destroyed, it would take months if not years to save up just to start a foundation. My wife is doing all she can; however, asking her to fund TWO households is not an option. She has done more than enough and all she can to raise our children.

Send this far and wide, and $1 is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Please be well, love on your families, be incredibly thankful for all that you have, and love each other with every fiber of your being. Nothing is promised and life is to always be cherished.

Funds will be used to purchase steel, cement blocks, cement, wood, and masonry tools to begin the foundation. 1000 cement blocks will also be purchased which can bring the house back up to the roofing stage. We will also be building a cement slab roof instead of the traditional zinc roof. This will prevent damage in the event of future storms.
