Hi, my name is Sarah and I have been an employee at RiverWest Park for almost 5 years. RiverWest Park has been the local area for families, friends, and non-locals to get together and create memories.
Well, the week of March 11th, 2019, Mother Nature decided to join the party. With her love expressed in rain, the Elkhorn River (which is where RiverWest Park resides on) has flooded the entire area of the park. It called for a crest at 2 feet above the rivers edge and it is now 6 feet and rising to 7 feet.
For those of you who were able to experience RiverJam, or Strangeland, or Lovefest, or even Hullabulloo in the past....you would be in 7 feet of water dancing at the main stage today.
For those of you who loved the new haunted attraction in Omaha and got to experience our Camp Fear, you'd be screaming now in horror because of all the water.
For those of you who spend their summer days tubing down the river....well, never mind, you'll be fine.
But for those of you who have made so many memories overnight under the stars, we can only hope those nights will come again.
And finally, for those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Bill, you would know that he has the upmost spirits about rebuilding and continue the legacy of RiverWest that he and his family have built from scratch.
While it will take a lot of man power and time to rebuild, every penny and dollar helps. A lot was lost. This money will be used to buy new sound and lighting gear, park equipment and tools, generators and everything that is needed to bring back our beloved RiverWest.
If you have any questions or would like to donate in other ways, please contact me, Sarah.
Thank you so much and please help us #RebuildRiverWest !
