Rebuild Retirement Home
Donation protected
I'm Ed Boling from Hanford, CA, currently living in Fresno.
I'm raising money and materials and labor to help my mom and dad with a start on rebuilding their retirement house. They lost it in the Creek Fire this week.
After laying flooring for over 40 years, my mom and dad finally retired to Shaver like they'd always dreamed. Sold their house in Hanford and moved just a few months ago. They hadn't gotten insurance on the house yet though.
They were evacuated last Friday afternoon. That morning, I was just worried about all the smoke they were breathing. It was like Hanford fog. They could barely see across the street. The fire was still five miles from their house. We were hopeful.
The fire swept through their area, directly South of Shaver, this week and we were all hoping the space they'd cleared around their house would help. No chance.
A week after being evacuated, my parents were lucky enough to have a firefighter drive to the address. He came back and told my dad it was a total loss. Nothing standing.
Rebuilding a whole, new house will not be cheap or easy, even for two retirees. But my dad has always used his hands to build, or lent his time and talent to help others build.
The money will be used for food and shelter as they start rebuilding.
It would be great to have the money collected by Sept. 25, 2020.
I'm really looking to the home construction trade, flooring trade, and other trade contractors that know or herd of my dad. He worked his a$$ off and he worked the a$$es off hundreds of young flooring installers. For over 40 years, remember.
Would you donate building materials you can spare? You know what he needs far better than I do. If you're in the trade, you probably know a flooring installer that knows him and knows he's given to so many people and places across the Central Valley.
In would be great to get materials together by Oct. 9, 2020.
I also want to ask for any labor that could help raise that retirement home for my mom and dad. I will be there with my hammer and sweat. And without a doubt, my dad will be there outworking me.
It would be great to start building on Oct. 16, 2020.
