Rebuild Quint's Farm After Hurricane Helene

Donation protected
My partner Quint has had a large amount of property damage with Hurricane Helene in Zionville, NC.

Many family and friends are asking how they can help, and at this time we are trying to rebuild and salvage before we lose more.

About the farm home:
Quint bought his country property back in 2018 and has been slowly remodeling the 100 year old house, barn, and single-wide trailer. He has taken out loans and used many a Lowe's credit cards and his own two hands to rebuild this beautiful property over the last 6 years. He had just reached a place this year where the single wide trailer on the property was done being remodeled and we were focusing our energy on the farm house.

With Hurricane Helene the trailer was completely lost along with his 100 year old barn with 90% of his tools, building materials, and many sentimental items in the barn for storage. He also lost his trailer, truck, and project car, which as you can imagine is making rebuilding very difficult.

The farm house survived the flood but the bottom basement wall blew out along with the water heater and much more storage. We are now quickly building temporary walls to brace the house hoping to keep it from collapse or being condemned.

Quint is left not only in debt from remodels that no longer exist, but is in significant financial distress from lost income from trailer and farm house that was used to fund a portion of the property mortgage so he could focus on remodel costs. Not to mention his home is no longer fit for living.

We are fortunate to have a house in town (where I live) that is safe, we have many friends who were not so lucky bunking up with us. We are applying for FEMA and insurance reimbursement but that will only cover a portion of this devastating loss.

Quint knows there are many like himself and worse who have had immeasurable losses. Staying true to his form his concerns have been all for the safety of others, the losses of his tenants, roommates, and neighbors. He has spent all this week driving around the neighborhood distributing water, making sure his tenants and roommates have evacuated and have a safe place to stay, and checking on his 90 yr old neighbors to make sure they have what they need as well as opening his town home to anyone in need. He is exhausted and emotionally drained as are we all trying to process the immensity of the damage and losses of life all around us. Even before this disaster Quint is the kind of person who spends all his extra time helping the community. He is a board member for Habitat for Humanity and our local transportation system Appalcart. Not to mention always working to help local businesses plan their expansions and remodels. Always working for far less than he is worth to help the self starters like himself. So here I am, trying to look out for the guy that is always looking our for everyone else.

If you can donate, we really appreciate it. Our hearts are with everyone in our community and our gratitude is with everyone across the states who have been reaching out to make sure we are safe.

Money donated will be used to buy building supplies needed to repair the remaining home on the property and additional supplies needed for cleanup of ours and neighboring properties.
