The Umar Bin El-Khattab Mosque (Preston Mosque)
built in 1976, Preston Mosque was ahead of its time. It was the first large scale mosque that also ran a lot of services and practices that welcomed everyone. It was the place to go to, whether it was “Saturday school” or spending Ramadan nights together.
This Mosque is Sheikh Fehmi Naji – El-Imams original community vision may Allah reward him and make it in his mizaan of good deeds... The main goal was to build a place of gathering and learning – a safe place, this is what has been re-designed! Let’s be ahead of our time in 2020 for our children’s future…
100% The funds raised will be used purely for the building purposes of the mosque. To assist with human congestion during popular prayer times, there will be more prayer space. Upstairs, there will be dedicated space for school programs, Quran/language school, conference rooms, office space, lecture theatre as well as an open feel environment for additional space to pray for women and men. Downstairs, we have added a cafe, bookshop and expanded the Islamic Funeral Services for the growing demand of the Muslim community.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.” Ṣahih Al Bakhari
