Rebuild Our Lives: Save a Family from Gaza War

Dear Supporters and Kind-Hearted Individuals,

I am Hazem Sakeek, a lecturer in the Department of Physics at Al Azhar University - Gaza. I am reaching out on behalf of my family during one of the most challenging times we have ever faced. We are a family of five from Gaza City: myself, my wife, and our children Mohammed (an engineering graduate), Abdul Rahman (a dental student), and Huda (a student in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences). The war on October 7th has torn our lives apart. My wife and children, who once lived in peace, are now struggling to cope with the destruction of everything we worked so hard to achieve, leaving us with nothing.

Explanation of Our Situation:

In the aftermath of the October 7th war, our lives were plunged into chaos and despair. We faced immense difficulties in our daily lives, striving to obtain the minimum requirements for a decent life amidst the rubble and destruction. Bombs rained down relentlessly, sparing no corner of our beloved city. We were gripped by fear as the shelling intensified around us. The war, waged from land, sea, and air, left us no choice but to seek safety and salvage what remained of our shattered lives. We lived near Gaza's seashore and had to evacuate to Khan Younis and then to Rafah due to the relentless bombing. Our home was completely destroyed, and we lost our memories, possessions, and everything we had; all that remained was fear and terror.

Evacuation and Financial Struggles:

Due to all this, evacuation from Gaza was the only option. It was not easy but extremely difficult, as each family member had to pay $5,000 to evacuate from Gaza. On February 16, 2024, we had to borrow $27,000 to cover the exorbitant evacuation costs, which were unavoidable to reach Egypt.

The Impact of the Situation:

Our situation is dire. Al Azhar University, where I dedicated my career, is almost gone, and there is no longer any income. This loss has exacerbated our struggles as we try to rebuild our lives amidst the chaos and uncertainty. With no income and financial resources exhausted, we face significant challenges in providing for our basic needs and ensuring the health and well-being of our family members. Each month, we face the daunting task of covering basic expenses, including rent, food, utilities, and other necessities. Our monthly expenses amount to approximately $1,500, a significant sum that we simply cannot afford without external assistance. This financial strain adds to the already overwhelming challenges we face in rebuilding our lives after the devastation of the October 7th war.

Therefore, we humbly ask for your support during this critical time. Any donation, no matter how small, will help us rebuild our lives and bring us closer to the day when we can rebuild our home and our lives in Gaza. How the Funds Will Be Used:

The funds raised will be allocated as follows:

1. $27,000 to repay the debts incurred for evacuation.

2. $18,000 to cover daily expenses and monthly rent for a year in Egypt, hoping that the war will end and we can rebuild what we have lost.
