Rebuild Our Home & Immediate Community After Helen & Milton
Donation protected
Some things are just not covered by homeowners insurance. Hurricane Helene & Milton created significant damage to our property & the people around us. We are trying to raise funds to repair our devastated property, critical infrastructure & those around us in our immediate community.
Fortunately, the home itself withstood most of both storms, with fixable damage. Everything else outside was destroyed by wind or washed away and covered by water.
I have to rebuild a whole bridge and an entrance channel bridge of the main road. All washed away by the hurricanes (Helene softened the ground and Milton destroyed it). Outside buildings are still underwater, the roadway washed away, wells, pipes, and smaller buildings were shattered by the winds, falling trees, and gusts with everything in it destroyed.
Several huge trees were uprooted and need to be removed and backfilled.
Some things insurance just doesn’t cover.

Update Oct 19:
We have started the recovery process. Lots of cleaning to be done, since the flood water left a dark brown layer of mud on everything. Piles of Debris being stacked and some burned. Every time we open a box that had memories stored in, sadly have to be discarded due to muddy water that got in there.

Update November 7:
Thank you to everyone who has supported our recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The process is long, but each donation brings us closer to rebuilding our roads, restoring critical infrastructure, and supporting our community as we navigate these challenging times. Please continue sharing our story to reach others who may want to help us rebuild.
