My name is Deandrea. I am from New Market, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Currently living in the US.
On October 28th, Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica, leaving behind devastating damage across my community of New Market, St. Elizabeth, and neighboring communities such as Santa Cruz and Black River. Our town, our homes, schools, farms, and small businesses have been torn apart. Many of my family members has either lost their homes completely or are in need of great repair. This goes for other member sod my community who has also lost everything, are unable to get in contact with family members abroad, and are now struggling to find shelter, food, and basic necessities.
This GoFundMe is created to support the rebuilding and recovery efforts in St. Elizabeth and surrounding areas. Donations will go directly toward providing emergency relief, helping families with things such as food and clothes. As well as helping in the efforts of rebuilding.
Our community has always been strong, united, and is also known for being the breadbasket of Jamaica. Now, we’re asking for your support to help us stand again. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Please share and donate if you can; together, we can bring hope and healing back to St. Elizabeth.
