Hey guys,
I wanted to be transparent and let you know that I edited this first update. I said we raised the full funds.. I need to share an update.
One thing I’m learning is that fundraising comes with a lot of ups and downs. There’s some really encouraging news, and there’s also some hard, frustrating moments too.
The good news is that we received a small grant to help begin rebuilding the church in Mozambique. On top of that, Iris Global stepped in and used part of their emergency fund to help get this project started. That fund is normally designated for urgent needs like food and crisis support across their 40+ bases around the world, so this was a really meaningful act of faith and generosity on their part.
The harder news is that multiple people had committed to helping fully fund this church rebuild. We spent a lot of time carefully vetting things and intentionally waited to share updates until we genuinely believed it was happening. While some support did come in, it ended up being far less than what had originally been committed.
That doesn’t mean it won’t still happen down the road. I’m learning this kind of thing is actually more common than I realized in fundraising. It can be discouraging at times, but we’re staying hopeful and continuing to move forward one step at a time.
The beautiful thing is this: every dollar raised here is now doing double the good.
Not only will it help rebuild this church, but it will also help replenish the emergency funds Iris used to get the project started, allowing those resources to go back toward supporting thousands of children and families facing critical needs around the world.
So truly, every gift matters more than you know.
I also know it’s hard to know who to trust on the internet these days. My hope is that by sharing both the exciting moments and the bumps in the road, it shows transparency. At the end of the day, that’s all I can really do, do my best to steward this vision well, care for these communities, and honor every dollar given with integrity.
