The Makoko Mother & Orphan Fund is raising support to rebuild an orphanage, school, and women's health clinic in Makoko Community in Lagos, Nigeria.
The need is urgent because the existing orphanage, school, and women's health clinic were bulldozed by land developers in Lagos. As a result, orphaned children are currently homeless, children in the community no longer have access to school, and pregnant women no longer have access to prenatal care.
A site has already been chosen for the school, orphanage, and clinic, and the initial frame for the school has already been built. However, the land has not yet been paid for and is currently on loan until it can be purchased.
Donations will go toward purchasing land and rebuilding these essential spaces: an orphanage for 100 children, a school for 100 children, and a women's prenatal health clinic that can serve up to 25 women at a time for prenatal care and as a birthing center.
