As all of you know, Loafers Glory experienced catastrophic flooding on September 27,2024. We lost everything in our home and everything in our shed and garage areas. The changing room we installed this summer is gone. Our property is nearly unrecognizable. Our home of 18 years is now a pile of debris. One of our cars was flooded. All of our tools, lawnmowers, and various equipment was ruined by flood waters or completely swept away.

Samaritan’s Purse arrived at the beginning of the week and removed the contents of the first floor of our building. Without their help, the foot of mud would still be inside, along with the mold and muck compromising the building. The process was difficult but the teams who volunteered to help us gave us assurance that things will be okay in time.

We did not realize the magnitude of our loss until we saw it as it is now. A trash heap. We have only worried about other folks who lost so much more than us. To say that we are humbled is an understatement. We never thought we would be here, asking for help in rebuilding our business and our lives. We will need to replace tools and equipment to be able to secure the building and make needed repairs. Significant grading will have to be done to the land. Our septic system will likely need to be replaced and we simply do not know what other expenses we will encounter. Any donations received above the goal will be distributed to support recovery efforts in Bakersville and to Samaritan’s Purse.
