Hi, my name is Gudrun, and I’m the owner of Crescent Moon, a beloved retreat known as 'Moonies,' outside Crescent Head. I have lived on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales for the past four years during which time I’ve come to understand the fragile eco-system that is farming here.

As many of you know, our community is devastated by flooding and the impact is most keenly felt by rural families: homes have been washed away, infrastructure destroyed, crops drowned and livestock taken by waters or deprived of the nutrient-rich grass which sustains them.

If they haven't lost their homes, what farmers need most is feed. To quote A Current Affair's article on Sue McGinn's farm, which is the last dairy farm on Belmore River Road, 'The federal and state governments have announced interim subsidies to help transport livestock and fodder. But McGinn anticipates she will need to bring in fodder until Spring.'

Sue's herd is 200 strong. To feed her animals once, we need to supply 8 - 10 bales of hay which cost roughly $100 each, depending on the quality. To support ten farms in the region of roughly the same size, we need $9000.00. This will not get them through the winter but it will help.

In response to the crisis, I have launched this GoFundMe campaign to raise urgent relief funds for affected farmers and families in the Kempsey Shire. I will personally oversee the distribution to make sure every dollar is spent on feed alone and resources are delivered by myself, my fiancee and a small army of volunteers.
