update: we just found out today that Veronica and Tori‘s and Tori‘s husband jobs will be shut down for a couple months. They have no work coming in no money and just need the basic needs. They have no running water. Veronica has had to use the river water behind her house, boiling it on the propane tank and it still made her daughter sick and has a throat infection. The other one is sick to her stomach. These people really need her help and I’m asking just to donate the smallest thing you can, and please share. Thank you.

Help the Silgado and Smith Families Rebuild After Hurricane Melissa

Hurricane Melissa has brought heartbreaking devastation to many across Jamaica — including two families who are very dear to us: the Silgado family and the Smith family. These are not just friends to us — they are family, people we grew close to and deeply care about from our time living in Jamaica. They have always opened their hearts to others, and now they’re facing unimaginable loss.

The Silgado family — parents Marcos and Tori and their three young children — lost most of their home when severe flooding destroyed their belongings and made their house unsafe to live in. Their children’s school supplies, clothes, and furniture were all ruined. Despite the hardship, they continue to stay strong and keep faith that things will get better.

The Smith family, led by Veronica, a single mother of three, also lost nearly everything. The storm damaged her roof and flooded every room. Veronica has always been someone who takes care of others — now she’s struggling to provide the basics for her children while trying to rebuild from the ground up.

Both families are currently unable to return to work, as their workplaces and livelihoods were also affected by the hurricane. They are doing their best to stay hopeful, but they need our help to start over.

We are raising funds to help them:

• Rebuild and repair their homes so they can return to safe living conditions

• ️ Replace essential items like beds, clothing, and furniture

• Provide food, clean water, and basic necessities for their families

• Offer financial support while they work to recover and rebuild their lives
