On August 4, 2025, our lives changed forever. While our family was in the Philippines mourning my grandmother’s passing, a suspected arson attack destroyed our home in Calgary, Canada.

My brother-in-law, who was home alone, awoke to the house shaking and alarms blaring. The basement—where two of our loved ones lived—was already engulfed in flames.

We are heartbroken to share that our beloved three-year-old dog did not survive. Investigators believe she was killed by an explosion during the fire. We are desperate for answers and justice for her.

The fire has left our dream home unsafe to enter, with one side on the verge of collapse. All eight of us are now displaced. We lost almost everything—clothes, beds, and personal belongings—and are left only with the clothes we packed for our trip.

In less than a year, we went from building our dream home to losing it completely, all while facing months of emotional and financial strain caring for my grandmother and father.
