Yesterday our dear Lata Costello lost everything in a terrible house fire.

Lata has been a friend and neighbour to us for well over 30 years. Her selfless contribution of time and energy to her friends and our community cannot be overstated. She has been a constant, trusted, devoted and deeply caring presence in our lives.

As a community leader,  Lata has always been a staunch believer in giving back. As such, she became one of the longest sitting members of the Wedgwood condominium board and tirelessly carried out her responsibilities with complete reliability, respect and goodwill to her fellow residents.

As a neighbour, Lata conceived and established many of the past and current social events shared by Wedgwood residents, such as the annual neighborhood garage sale, which bind us closer as a community.

As a friend, Lata offers unfiltered generosity, kindness and compassion. She’s always the first to offer assistance, advice, consolation or sympathy to anybody in need or distress.

It’s impossible to imagine the community without her bright smile, warmth and generosity.

Lata has lost everything to this fire. She is now the one in need. She will have to replace everything she once had; from clothes to footwear, appliances to electronics and furniture to linens. We, have the opportunity to repay her devotion and help her rebuild her life.
