My name is Makala Garrett, also known as Chef Kay — a Black woman-owned business founder and single mother building a dream called Kash Kuisines Bistro.

I invested everything into opening my restaurant — my savings, my time, and my heart. But before I could even open my doors, serious landlord negligence and unresolved property issues forced me to close.

I lost money, momentum, and the opportunity to launch — but I didn’t lose my vision.

I’m raising funds to recover from financial losses, secure a new location, and relaunch Kash Kuisines stronger than ever.

This is bigger than a restaurant. It’s about resilience. It’s about protecting Black women in business. It’s about showing my children that we don’t quit when things get hard.
