Sometimes you just wonder how much one person can endure. My friend and employee, Karen Dageforde's home was in the direct path of the tornado that tore through a sub division south of Blair, Nebraska on April 26, 2024.
Flash back to one year ago - her healthy husband Darren, of nearly 35 years unexpectedly dropped dead of a cardiac arrest. They had built their home together, doing much of the construction work themselves. It felt as if the tornado was destroying more than just a house. It was also taking away the remnants of her husband's hard work and creativity and all of the memories made there.
Amazingly, although the tornado turned her house into shambles, her husband's ashes were still standing guard as they stood untouched on the bookshelf right next to her bed (a room now open to the elements).
Karen and Darren always gave to our community through volunteering and giving of themselves. Karen has understandably had a hard year after Darren's passing. And now with the tornado aftermath, this has caused her to ask how much more she can endure. Not having homeowners insurance has caused an enormous financial burden on Karen. Karen is not one to ask for any type of assistance, always looking out for others before herself. If you are able to please help donate for this GoFund Me, all donations will be given to Karen to help make her home livable.
