Hi, my name is Franco Carullo, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my friend Joe DaSilva — a man who’s always been full of life, love, and fight. But since suffering a major stroke in October 2024, Joe’s world has been turned upside down.

Joe’s stroke left him with limited use of the entire left side of his body. He lost his job. He lost his health insurance. And now, he’s behind on rent, living alone in Wichita, Kansas — on the brink of homelessness with no access to the physical therapy he needs to recover.

His only hope now is to return to Massachusetts, where he can qualify for MassHealth, regain access to care, and begin rebuilding his life.

Joe has applied for disability, but was told he’ll face a 270-day waiting period and a likely initial denial — a heartbreaking reality for so many in his situation. On top of all this, his wife has had to separate from him, overwhelmed by the impossible strain of his condition and circumstances.

But Joe hasn’t given up.

He’s still fighting — to walk again, to reunite with his family, and to reclaim a life with purpose and dignity.
