My name is Elta Sayiya, founder of Harry Mnisi Foundation in Acornhoek.

Jerusalem Church has long been a place of faith, hope, and service in our and less privileged rural community of Acornhoek, South Africa.

After heavy rains, the church building was severely damaged and partially collapsed, making it unsafe to use. What was once a shelter for prayer, learning, and compassion now stands broken — and the community feels that loss deeply.

This church was never just a church.

It was:

• A place of worship and spiritual guidance

• A base for NPOs doing charitable and outreach work

• A safe space for community gatherings and support programs

• A classroom for after-school lessons for vulnerable children

With the building damaged, all of these activities have stopped. Children have lost a safe place to learn. Community programs have lost their home. A vital pillar of Acornhoek has been taken away.

But we believe that with faith and community, Jerusalem Church can rise again.
