We are Rennae and Wouter Tjeertes, co-founders of Pure Chocolate Jamaica, a farm-to-bar chocolate company located in Ocho Rios, in the beautiful parish of St. Ann, Jamaica.

At Pure Chocolate Jamaica, we’ve been working side by side with our farmers for years. We know their families, their stories, and their love for the land. Now, they’re standing in the ruins of their farms, unsure how to begin again.

In the hills of St. Mary and Portland, our farming partners — the heart and soul behind Pure Chocolate Jamaica — have lost almost everything. Their cocoa trees, other crops, and even their hope were torn apart by the storm’s fury.

“It took me 10 years to grow these trees,” said one of our farmers in St. Mary. “I don’t know where to start again.”

That’s why we’re starting here — with you.

Replanting cocoa trees and restoring damaged farms

Replacing lost tools and materials needed for replanting

️ Repairing damage to the fermentary house and fermentation tables

Providing hands-on help to restore soil health and rebuild sustainable farms
