Devastation is defined in two different ways. First, as great destruction or damage and second, as severe and overwhelming shock or grief. On Monday, July 17th Josh Hamby received a phone call that his business, Hudson Fence Company, was on fire.
As Josh approached his building he was faced with both shock and overwhelming grief. It’s tough to watch everything you worked to build go up in flames. The business lost almost everything - their offices, inventory, and equipment are now ashes. This not only impacts Josh and his family, but it impacts his employees and their families as well.
As the days unfolded with meetings, phone calls, and messages, Josh received news that their insurance would not cover any of the damaged contents, making Hudson Fence Company’s total loss around $80,000.
Josh named Hudson Fence Company after his wife’s grandfather - a gritty West Texan. He also passed the name down to his son - Lake Hudson Hamby. It represents what Josh stands for at his core - family. It represents quality products and service for his customers and compassion and intentionality for his employees. It is a reminder that despite all of life’s hardships, people come first.
For those of you who don’t know, Dacia and Josh spent 6 years in Uganda as missionaries. They lived in the trenches alongside some of the most amazing people. They fell in love with the culture and even adopted their daughter, Leya, from Uganda. They have a true desire to meet people in hard places and help them see that there is hope in pain.
The Hamby family is a representation of pure generosity. Not only financially, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Dacia and Josh have overcome many obstacles and this will NOT be their last.
Would you consider giving to support them as they rebuild? These funds would go towards job security for employees, re-stocking materials, office supplies, equipment, and so much more. It’s an opportunity for you to come alongside the Hamby family and say “We’ve got your back”!!!!
