My husband and I decided to celebrate our second wedding anniversary with a small get away just the 2 of us, this is not something we typically do but after our son was born in 2024 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis an incredibly painful gastrointestinal auto immune disease. Due to this sickness I spent many months in and out of the hospital and in bed unable to do really anything you would do in a normal life so we never got a honey moon like most newlyweds do, being I'm in remission we decided to take some time just for us. We went on our trip spent 1 day enjoying ourselves unaware of the danger looming 300 miles east back home and on the early morning of June 20th, 2025 around 1am we got a call from our 77yr old grandfather that tragedy had struck the large tornado they had been tracking tore right through our farmstead 5hrs away, the small little home that we spent every little spare penny making into our little slice of heaven was in shambles. Without a second thought we got packed up and headed for home after driving through the night we found that it had took down all the trees around us. During that drive our grandfather had told us a large cottonwood uprooted and fell directly on the roof of our home. We arrived home just to find that the tree had fallen right through our sons room completely destroying it leaving us no where to bring our son home to. As if matters couldn't get any worse my husband lost a large storage building that he used to store all his machinery in over the winter that still held a new to us corn head and all his spray and fertilizer for his crops all a loss buried under the rubble. Remains of it were scattered for miles that the tornado deposited as it moved on my husband was devastated. Now you might say insurance will cover this but for us that's just not the case we were given the farm and still were patiently going through the process so nothing was finalized meaning we had no safety net. It is estimated between the repairs to the house and a new development of the storage building it could cost around $50,000 which could set us further in debt even more, which is horrifying because his corn growing in the fields was also destroyed by the tornado, 90mph winds, and hail with the crops being our biggest source of income something my husband pours his blood, sweat, and tears into we were completely in shock not wanting to believe this nightmare was real. Our family is completely devastated and heart broken we don't ask that you have to donate but just know that anything will be greatly appreciated and will mean the absolute world to our family.
