Rebuild Hope for Westernport Teachers

Wrecked Cars, Lost Essentials — Help Westernport Teachers Recover

In a matter of moments, several teachers at Westernport Elementary experienced the destruction of their personal vehicles—along with the devastating loss of the essential items inside.

This wasn’t just about damaged cars. Teachers lost personal laptops, backpacks, prescription glasses, children’s baseball gear, car seats, strollers, classroom materials, and other daily necessities—many of which were uninsured or impossible to replace.

While auto insurance may help with vehicle repairs, coverage for personal property is limited. Most policies only cover certain types of items, and only up to a specific amount—nowhere near what it takes to replace what was lost. Add in high deductibles, and these educators are left facing significant financial hardship.

This GoFundMe was created at the request of both parents and teachers after conversations with school staff and PTA leaders. It is designed to provide immediate relief to the affected teachers, helping them recover the personal and professional items they rely on every day.

In addition to this GoFundMe, the Westernport PTA has established a dedicated fund through M&T Bank to support both teachers’ essential needs and student essentials—including items like backpacks, glasses, school supplies, and more.

Funds from this GoFundMe will be managed through my business and distributed with full transparency once we meet or exceed our goal, or by June 14th, when the campaign closes.

Our teachers give everything. Let’s give back.

Donate today. Share this message. Help us help those who help our children every day.

*This fundraiser was launched at the request of the Westernport Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). As a proud graduate of the school with strong ties to the community, I was asked by the PTO to serve as the primary coordinator for this initiative. My business has agreed to act as the fiscal agent, responsible for collecting and distributing the funds.
I’ve been working closely with both the PTO President and the School Secretary to ensure a smooth and transparent process. Once the funds have been collected, we plan to host a luncheon at the school to distribute the funds equally among the 29 affected teachers.
