Rebuild Hope for the White Family

The old saying goes, “To know them is to love them,” but in this case, it could also be said, “To know them is to be loved by them.” I have been blessed to know the White family for many years, but over the last few months I have gotten to know them in a far deeper way, and I have witnessed firsthand the depth of their love for others.

While they joyfully devote their lives to their two boys and to serving those around them and around the world, they are now facing an insurmountable obstacle of their own.

Many of you know Pastor Joel and Kasey White, longtime residents of Sherwood who are deeply invested not only in their church family but in the greater community as well. Joel is the lead pastor of Crossridge Church and also serves as a volunteer police chaplain for the Sherwood Police Department. You’ll find Kasey faithfully serving alongside Joel, using her unique gifts to gather people and build relationships.

In March 2025, a leak was discovered in their home, and it was determined that their rooftop solar panels had been installed incorrectly years earlier. This caused a slow leak that damaged much of the upper story of their house. The damage proved far more extensive than they initially realized, and they moved out of their home in early August to begin the lengthy repair process.

Because the mold was caused by faulty installation by the solar panel company, they have spent the last eight months tirelessly researching and pursuing avenues to receive assistance from both the solar panel company and their homeowners insurance—only to discover that the company had filed for bankruptcy in 2024, leaving them with no option other than to cover the entire cost of the remediation and rebuild on their own.

The costs are expected to exceed $150,000 as they complete full mold remediation; replace the roof; install new siding, an HVAC system and ducting; and repair or replace flooring, drywall, insulation, and electrical. They must also replace nearly all of their furniture, mattresses, and personal belongings.

They cherish your prayers and are incredibly blessed by your support. Despite the many challenges that have come with being displaced from their home for months and facing mounting costs to make it livable again, they have remained steadfast in their faith, trusting that the Lord will carry them through this valley. Even on the hardest days this past year, they continue to praise Him for His many provisions along the way. They have long considered it a privilege and honor to walk alongside others in times of need, and now we have the opportunity to bless them as they work to rebuild their home for their family.

Thank you for your prayers and love on their behalf.
