Hello, my name is Natasha. I am a dear friend to the family. I am starting this GoFundMe to help Shivam, Nisha, and Jayesh Patel. On Wednesday, October 16th at 9:00 am, their home was hit by a car .
The driver hit the living room, severing the home’s gas and electric line. Gas flooded their home, creating a very high risk of explosion, which prompted the firefighters to break all the windows in the home immediately to let the gas out. The heroic act, however, destroyed quite a few belongings and furniture. PSEG had to come in and turn off their gas line immediately. Workers dug out the tank from their front yard and put a stop to the leak.
The gas leak forced the Patel family out of their home. Jayesh is legally deaf, so he didn’t wake up immediately during the crash; he had to be shaken awake. He was disoriented and ran out of the home without any shoes. Nisha was diagnosed with cancer back in 2022. After countless doctor consultations and a kidney removal surgery, she is now in remission. Because of both parents’ disabilities, Shivam is the full-time caretaker of both his parents.
Due to the accident, the home had structural damage. The foundation needs to be replaced on 40% of the home, so there is a good chance the home will have to be torn down and rebuilt.
The family has been through so much hardship with both parents being disabled. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
