Help the Gabryluk Family Rebuild After Devastating House Fire
On April 28th, the Gabryluk family experienced a devastating tragedy — the loss of their family home of over 50 years to a fire. In just moments, decades of memories and a lifetime of possessions were destroyed.
We are incredibly grateful to the neighbor who helped Eleanor (86) escape, the first responders, and the Red Cross for their support during this crisis. Your compassion and quick action saved lives.
The home was occupied by Eleanor, her son John (56), and her granddaughter Jolie (22), who is currently away at college. All three have been displaced. While things like clothing and furniture can eventually be replaced, the family has also lost cherished, irreplaceable mementos and history.
“I still have the same clothes on from yesterday,” John said the next morning.
“You really don’t realize what you have until it’s gone. I only have the clothing I’m wearing.”
John’s sister Cathy and her family have been by their side since the moment the fire occurred. From helping coordinate emergency support to opening their own homes and managing countless details, they have played an essential role in holding the family together during this crisis. Their strength, generosity, and tireless support have been a true source of comfort in a time of overwhelming loss.
