In the early morning hours on August 4th, the Figueroa family woke up to a disaster. A suspected drunk driver ran a stop sign and wrecked a truck into their home. It destroyed their house, one of their vehicles, possibly totaled a second vehicle (it has severe damage but waiting for insurance to determine if it’s also a total loss), and nearly killed them as well. They’ve lost a lot of property inside their home, some pets, and continue to sift through the rubble trying to sort everything out. Chris and Margaret have two girls, around 9 & 11, who will be starting school this week. All of them are safe but very shaken up, especially after the toolbox flew from the truck and landed about 10 feet from where they were sleeping. To add to everything else, the house started on fire and Pueblo West Fire Dept responded to take care of that. Now, their home has been condemned due to structural damage. It will need significant repair.

A little about Chris and why we’ve decided to set up this go fund me for him and his family:

Chris is a great guy with a wonderful family. He’s been serving his community for nearly his entire life. He has been a firefighter and currently trains first responders from around the world. Chris and his family are amazing people who have helped others with their kindness and generosity. We know insurance will probably cover a lot of it, but the driver did flee and the insurance process, court processes, etc all take time and all will still have financial costs associated with getting their lives back together.

So…Please consider helping out if you can. Chris has dedicated his life to serving his communities and to helping others…let’s try to do the same for him & his family!
