Rebuild Hope for Tara, Teddy, and Kids

Donation protected
Hi Everyone, my brother and his family have suffered a great devastation a few nights ago. My sister-in-law, Tara, and my niece and nephew were heading to bed Saturday night. They called my brother, who was working the night shift, to say goodnight. During the call, he heard a beeping noise in the background and asked Tara to go find where that was coming from. She walked the first floor of their home and couldn’t locate the alarm. She then opened the basement door, and smoke started billowing into their upper levels. Tara, the two children, Tenley & Teddy, and their pet, Penny, escaped, and my brother left work immediately. Three different rescue departments were there to help assist as quickly as possible. The fire was found to be electrical in their basement, coming from the dehumidifier and/or sump pump. Part of their basement was storage, and part was a finished sports man cave where the family hung out often watching their favorite sports teams together. The fire was very close to the natural gas line. Praise GOD they are all safe!! Above where the fire started was their family room that has suffered tremendous damage to the floor and cannot bear any weight on it until new support beams are replaced and installed. Windows along their first floor were broken during the fire. The home has suffered severe damage and will be unlivable for quite some time. They have a long road ahead of them to get this home back to its beautiful, safe self. They were able to go in the home and grab clothing and anything needed for the very near future. It’s unreal the stench of smoke that is on every piece of their clothing. It’s all just so overwhelming and devastating. The kids are having a hard time adjusting to this and are so involved with their friends and activities near their home. They’re currently staying with family about 25 minutes away from their home. I am making this page in hopes to help relieve any stress and worries they are sorting through. They have a very strong support system of friends and family, but at a time like this, no one knows exactly how to be of help. It’s very hard for them to even know where to begin to accept any help when they don’t know themselves how to wrap their heads around this recent tragedy. However, I know when tragedy happens, people uplift and show their giving hearts instantly. We are not the type of people to even know how to begin asking for help, monetary or not. It’s not in Teddy nor Tara’s nature. But I do know they need all the prayers and support we can give. Please continue praying for them, and if you feel inclined to help relieve them of any burden that is coming their way, they would most certainly be forever grateful.

Thank you,
