My name is Nickel Lawrence, from Whitehouse, Westmorland Parish, Jamaica. For the Past 5 years I have been living in Missoula Montana with my wife, Courtney and son, Powell.
My home town of Whitehouse was devastated by Hurricane Melissa on October 28th. Whitehouse is on the South Western side of the Island and is close to where Melissa made her first land fall.
My Family's 200 year old board house (seen in the picture) and their shop, that was their main source of income, are most likely no longer standing. Other family members, who do not have concert homes, including my grandmother will have to almost completely rebuild as well.
I am here to ask for help for my family and community to help recover and rebuild. My parents started construction on their new concrete house, before the storm, and it is my hope, with a good amount of the money raised, to help them get it to a place were they can start living in it. I also hope to help my grandmother and other family members if I can raise the funds. Once I am able to, I will be sending the money directly to my mother Ruby, Western Union, so she can purchase materials needed, pay those that help them with construction along with basic living expenses, food and water. I will also be sending a percentage to my aunt Davia to aid in the rebuilding of my grandmothers house, food and water.
Please give what you can and share this Go Fund Me.
I thank you all in advance and will continue to update and share with you all the resilience and hope that my country of Jamaica has! "Out of many we are one."
Thank you,
Nickel
