Hello Everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my family in Jamaica. Many of you have seen the devastation Hurricane Melissa left behind — but for us, it is deeply personal.

My mother’s home, which has stood strong through many storms over the years, was once again tested. While the structure itself held, floodwater entered through the door seams, causing water damage to the interior. The power has been out for three weeks now, and with no electricity, their food is spoiling. All of the fruit trees that once surrounded her home — her main source of fresh food and pride — are gone. It is heartbreaking.

My Uncle's home wasn’t as fortunate — part of his home is completely destroyed. Both homes are in desperate need of supplies such as nonperishable food, clean water, an inverter or generator for power, and household repairs.

As most of you know I am somewhere in the middle of the ocean right now, on deployment. It breaks my heart that I can’t physically be there in person to help. We plan on preparing a barrel of food and supplies to ship to them, but we know that shipping takes time, so we are hoping to help with more immediate relief — funds to buy food, water, and other essentials to get through the coming weeks.

That’s why we’re asking for your help. We can see lots of people and other countries donating, sending money, food, and supplies to Jamaica, but there is just so much devastation and so many people in dire need that we cannot know if that relief will ever reach our family.

Even the smallest donation — $1, $5, $10, $20 — makes a real difference. Every dollar will go directly toward supporting our family as they recover:

** Food and water**

* Home repairs and cleaning supplies

* A power inverter or generator for electricity

* Emergency household needs
