Rebuild Hope for Mom After Fire Tragedy

The unthinkable happened on Friday, July 25th, 2025, when my mom's apartment building burned down and she lost everything.

Her angels were watching over when her friend asked her to go out to lunch that day.

She went home after lunch to grab some things to take to my brother's and was never able to go back into her unit because the roof collapsed and it is structurally compromised.

One of the worst parts is we have no idea what happened to her cat, Charlotte.

Since the roof collapsed, they won't let anyone in and it is all gated off right now. She could be trapped in there and we have no way of knowing.

The other most heartbreaking piece that she cannot ever recover are the last memories of my dad, her husband, Michael Thornhill. He passed away in 2008 due to brain cancer and our hearts have been aching ever since.

All her memories, medicine, furniture, clothing, and more are gone, and now all she has left is the clothing she was wearing and her vehicle.

The Red Cross has been amazing and I would like to thank everyone that has helped with this tragedy.

Thankfully, all the humans were able to evacuate, but not the animals.

It is hard to know what amount to ask for, so my apologies for the ignorance. I just thought this might be a good starting point.
